Jyderup - Svebølle

Stenstien (Jyderup-Svebølle)

The path goes through a varied landscape between Jyderup in the east and Svebølle in the west. In Jyderup, there is also a connection to the south via the continuation of the Jyderup path to Tystrup Lake. At the eastern end of the path lies Skarresø, which is surrounded by forest and is a habitat for many birds. After Skarresø, the path runs south of Bjergsted Bakker. Then come the gravel pits at Stenrand, which significantly influences the landscape (hence the name Stenstien). The old ruin church at Aunsø is passed, and the landscape gradually becomes more agricultural.

Skarresholm

On a small islet surrounded by marsh and meadow lay a castle named Skarresholm in the Middle Ages. The castle consisted of stone houses several stories high, surrounded by ramparts and moats. In 1408, Queen Margaret I bought the castle and demolished it as part of the crown's struggle against the nobility. Today, small elevations in the landscape are the only visible remnants of the castle.

Skarresø

Skarresø has a depth of up to four meters. Fishing for eels, pike, bream, and roach has over the years been an asset for the lake's owners. Additionally, the lake has a fine population of zanders, which were introduced in the 1950s. The birdlife in the area is rich and varied, including gray geese and duck species, as well as frequent observations of sea eagles, fish eagles, and golden eagles.

Bjergsted Bakker

Bjergsted Bakker constitutes the western part of a larger, contiguous ridge. From Bjergsted Bakker, there is a view over Sejerø Bay and the surrounding landscape. Bjergsted Bakker was protected in the year 2000. Rare plants grow on the hills, which form the basis of life for specific insect communities, including butterflies.

Stenrand

Stenrand is one of the largest gravel pits in Zealand as the subsoil is rich in gravel and sand deposited during the last ice age. The excavations in the area have created a very special landscape. The slopes reveal a series of meltwater layers from the melting of the glacier ice.

Aunsø gamle Kirke

Aunsø gamle Kirke is a ruin church with a park-like churchyard. It was built in the 13th century as a private chapel for the then-royally owned Aunsøgård. In the 14th century, the building became the parish church for Aunsø Parish and served as such until 1934. The original building has been extended several times.
