Yellow route. Nysum / Nørvad

The yellow route runs along the church dyke and then northwards. It is a very beautiful and varied route with views over the forest and the river valley. At the bottom, you can see Nørvad Mill, which was established in the 17th century and continued to grind grain until around 1920, as the local farmers came to have their grain milled. The dammed mill pond is now gone. Part of the route runs along Lindenborg River, which was partially re-meandered in 2019. The Red Kite, with its characteristic forked tail, often visits the area, just like the raven with its deep "kraa" "kraa" soaring over the valley. If you are lucky, you might see small groups of roe deer or a small flock of cranes foraging in the wet meadow. In the small forest to the east, there is a badger colony with several entrances. Accounts from older sources tell that the colony has existed for more than 100 years. After a visit to the village of Nysum, which previously housed a blacksmith, a carpentry shop, a cooperative, and a school, we head back towards Ravnkilde. At the foot of the hill and the two burial mounds to the south, there is a large swamp spring that is the start of Lindenborg River, which flows out into the Limfjord at Storvorde 40 km later. 200 meters south, you can see the thicket of Truntholmen, where Simested River springs and flows southward into Hjarbæk Fjord. So perhaps the “divided waters” will meet again in the Limfjord. The surface of the route consists of gravel roads, asphalt, wood chips, and a small section with a bridge. It is considered moderately difficult, and is not accessible for those with disabilities.
