Regisse Source

Throughout the country, there are springs that were once very popular, especially on Midsummer's Eve, when it was believed that the water on this evening had healing powers. One of these sacred springs is Regisse Spring in Frørup. Regisse or Reise Spring, as it is sometimes called, is located in a field belonging to Regissegård, close to the Kongshøj stream.

H.C. Andersen visited this holy spring as a child with his mother, who participated in religious gatherings at the annual St. John's Market by the spring.

Andersen grew up devout and superstitious and was attracted to both Jesus and the Nordic gods. He was inspired by exactly this background for the novel "Just a Musician," which he published in 1837.
