Hyrdehøj Forest

The route follows the Heart Path, which is a marked route where signs with the Heart Association's logo have been set up along the way. The circular route goes through open grass areas and Hyrdehøj Forest, which is located close to the city on the outskirts of Roskilde. The route passes by a fire hut called Økobasen, where there are good side facilities and the opportunity to cook over a fire. At Økobasen, there is access over grass areas down to a lake where fishing is allowed if you have a fishing license.

The forest is part of “Roskilde's green ring,” which aims to create greater landscape coherence between the mid-Zealand and north Zealand forests. In Hyrdehøj Forest, we have focused on nature experiences and outdoor life. You can either park on the east side near Roskilde Athletic Stadium or on the west side of the area at the commuter parking lot on Hyrdehøj Vestervej.

A forest fitness route has been created with 4 exercise stations. At the stations, you can freely and at your own risk use the various training facilities.

There is a dog forest in the southwestern part of the area. The Heart Path does not go through the dog forest.

As Hyrdehøj Forest is located near the motorway, there is especially noise from the motorway in the southern part of the route.
