The Kleinbahn was established in 1904 while Southern Jutland was German (1864-1920). The railway was closed in 1939, when the tracks were removed. When the Germans left the area after their defeat in World War II, they blew up the bridge over Nipså between Galsted and Strandelhjørn. The railway embankment was subsequently grassed over and traces of the railway line gradually disappeared. In 2010, the route was revived as a bike/hiking route. The return route takes you past Grimmosen where peat was harvested until the 1950s, among other things for peat factories in the area. There is a rich wildlife in the bog, and you may be lucky enough to see a red deer on your journey.
