Land art in Pipstorn Forest: Nature as a work of art and topic of conversation

Faaborg-Midtfyn Municipality has rented Pipstorn Forest until 2035, opening new possibilities for temporary art in nature. An abandoned mountain bike trail is now being transformed into a sensory path. Here, visitors to the forest can move among the trees and discover artworks that both celebrate the beauty of nature and highlight current themes.

In December 2025, artist Jette Mellegren will be working with land art in Pipstorn Forest – both with her own works and installations, and in collaboration with young people.

The work concluded with an exhibition that marked the beginning of the art path and provided an opportunity to see the works and discuss future land art projects.

Young people are creative in their encounter with art and nature

A central part of the art path is the involvement of local youth, guided by an artist. Through this involvement, a platform is created where the voices and perspectives of the youth can contribute to shaping the project and give the path a contemporary expression.

In this initial project, Jette Mellegren contributes several art installations and works to the art path. As a trained basket weaver, she works with weaving, braiding, and organic fibers, and her art explores the strength and fragility of nature. Her works invite sensory experiences and reflection on what we often overlook in the landscape – and show how the simple can contain both poetry and power.

More projects will come to the art path in Pipstorn over the coming years.
