Toftehøj

Toftehøj is an almost unknown mountain peak that only received its official name in 2008. This occurred at a festive BestigBjerge event led by the then Horsens Mayor Jan Trøjborg and mountain king etc. Roger Pihl, Norway. The summit is located just north of Energi Midt's beautiful, old transformer tower.

During the ascent of Toftehøj, you are moving on old monastery land. And on the only hill that has been named in this century.

The farms in Brørup and Ustrup came under the nunnery Ring Kloster in the Middle Ages and were transferred to the king during the Reformation in 1536.

At the auction of the Skanderborg Cavalry District in 1767, there were nine farms and several houses in Brørup and Ustrup. The farms in Kattrup were independent farms, but after the auction, independence was quickly introduced throughout the area.

Gammeltoftevej is part of a very old road layout that runs north towards Ring Kloster via Hylke. The road has likely also been used by travelers heading to Skanderborg’s Castle Ladegarde, which was located north of Skanderborg Lake.
