The hiking route Aarhus - Silkeborg

The hiking trail Århus-Silkeborg is more than 90 km long. The hiking trail is marked with blue signs in Århus Municipality and with red pictograms in Skanderborg and Silkeborg Municipalities.

Two alternative routes have been marked through Skanderborg Town - one route passes by Skanderborg Trail Center and Skanderborg Marina, and another route goes through Skanderborg Bakker and past Skanderborg Station. An alternative route has also been marked through Dyrehaven around the festival site during the Skanderborg Festival - and an alternative route at Boes, if there is high water in Mossø.

You can start the journey in Aarhus at the closed station from Hammelbanen, Carl Blochs Gade 28, or at Silkeborg Station. Alken Station, Ry Station, or Skanderborg Station are also good places to start or finish the hike.

There are several options for primitive accommodation along the way.

The hiking trail between Gl. Rye and Himmelbjerget - and the stretch between Himmelbjerget and Silkeborg, partially follows the same route as "Himmelbjergruten" and/or "Gudenåstien".

For instance, divide the trip into three stages:

• Aarhus - Skanderborg Station approx. 35 km

• Skanderborg Station - Ry Station approx. 35 km

• Ry Station - Silkeborg Station approx. 25 km
