Søndre Plantage - red hiking trail

Søndre Plantage is owned by Varde Municipality. The plantation covers 365 ha and is located about 3 km southeast of Varde city center.

In the plantation, there are opportunities for pleasant walks or runs on marked trails, but you are also welcome to explore the forest and its plant and animal life outside the trails. In the area, you will also find the gravel pit lake Nysø, which is designated by locals as a local gem in Varde Municipality. Here, among other things, there is a chance to swim or use a campfire area, grill hut, and spend the night in shelters. There is a parking lot by the lake at the address Roustvej 106, 6800 Varde.

The red route is 2.6 km long. It is possible to park inside the forest, where the red and yellow routes meet. Along the route, you will reach the viewpoint Bjerget, where on clear days you can see far around.
