Søndre Plantage - blue hiking route

Søndre Plantage is owned by Varde Municipality. The plantation is 365 ha large and is located about 3 km southeast of Varde city center.

In the plantation, there are opportunities for pleasant walking or running on marked trails, but you are also welcome to explore the forest and its plant and animal life outside the trails. In the area, you will also find the gravel pit lake Nysø, which has been designated by locals as a local gem in Varde Municipality. Here, among other things, you can swim or use the campfire site, grill hut, and stay overnight in shelters. There is a parking lot by the lake at the address Roustvej 106, 6800 Varde.

The blue route is 3.6 km long, and it is possible to park close to the trail at Roustvej. On the blue route, you pass by the old ranger's residence. A beautiful yellow house surrounded by the green forest, old trees, and a rich bird life. The residence is today the base for NaturKulturVarde, which works with nature communication across the entire Varde municipality. Here you will also find Stakladen with panels that tell about Søndre Plantage and the nature of the forest.
