Søndre Plantage - yellow hiking route

Søndre Plantage is owned by Varde Municipality. The plantation is 365 ha large and is located about 3 km southeast of Varde center.

In the plantation, there is the opportunity for cozy walks or runs on marked trails, but you are also welcome to explore the forest and its plant and animal life outside the trails. In the area, you will also find the gravel pit lake Nysø, which is identified by locals as a local gem in Varde Municipality. Here, among other things, there is the opportunity to swim or use the fire pit, grill cabin, and stay overnight in shelters. There is a parking lot by the lake at the address Roustvej 106, 6800 Varde.

The yellow route is 2.8 km long. It is possible to park inside the forest where the red and yellow routes meet.

On the yellow route, you will also pass by Røverhulen. In olden days, a band of robbers roamed here, and under the cover of night, they attacked travelers. Highway robbers were then the biggest danger on the roads.
