Bidstrup Estate Blue Route

Blue route (4.5 km)
Part of the route is a footpath along the edge of the field, from which there is a beautiful view of a large lake and meadow area at Langkær.
Until 1995, the area was drained and used for agriculture, but now it has been allowed to revert to nature. However, the Voer Mølleå still flows in a canal along the edge of the area.
In the Østervoer forest, you can see two barrows from the prehistoric Stone Age around 6000 years ago. They are respectively 60 and 80 meters long (see image on the opposite side). Such barrows are quite rare in Denmark. They are impressive structures from a time when tools were made only from natural materials such as wood, bone, and stone.
The route bends past Voer Mølle, which was in operation as a mill until 1920. Here, the estate and other surrounding farms had their grains milled into groats and flour. (Please be considerate of the residents). It is the Nature Conservation Association of Denmark Favrskov branch that was responsible for the construction and manages the maintenance of the path.
