The route goes through Hestehave. The word "have" originally means a grazing area for livestock near the farm (That's still the case in Swedish). Only in recent times has the word evolved to "have," as we know it today.
On the route, you will be able to see three burial mounds from the late Bronze Age, i.e., from the period around 1700 to 500 BC. One is marked with a sign containing information about the burial mounds. Two of them are somewhat hidden a little way into the forest along a side road further south. Try to see if you can find them.
On the edge of the field, you will pass 2 giant oak trees that are among the oldest in Denmark. The estate has protected them from past overexploitation for building and ship timber.
Inside the forest, you will also pass by an impressively large beech tree, which has been a mother tree to the surrounding beech forest. It is the Danish Nature Conservation Association Favrskov branch that was responsible for the establishment and is in charge of the maintenance of the path.
