Vejerslev - monastery, watermill and Asgård

Area's history:
The monastery was founded in the 12th century by Benedictine monks in Vejerslev. At that time, there was already a church, which the monks expanded. Dormitories and a dining hall were also built. The monastery itself was located south of the church, where today there is a cemetery and lawn. There was only a monastery in Vejerslev for a period of 30-50 years.
The church in Vejerslev is a wayside church and is open from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM from April 1 to October 1. Outside the church is a runestone from the Viking Age.
The monks' watermill was excavated in 1986 by Silkeborg Museum. It is one of the oldest watermills in Denmark - the oldest parts of the mill are dated to 1183. The mill was likely destroyed by a flood and not rebuilt, as the monks shortly after moved to Alling Kloster.
The mythological experience park Asgård is run by local enthusiasts, is a great place to have a picnic and explore Nordic mythology.
