The story of the parallel development of Munkebo and Dræby came to a sudden end in the years after 1957. Before that time, the two towns of the parish, which have different histories of origin, had a peaceful, often perhaps somewhat rivalrous coexistence. The towns were approximately the same size in terms of population.
