Hovby Eng nature trail

The path around Hovby Eng is approximately 2 km long, with gravel paths and boardwalks over wet areas. There is access and signage to the route at two locations on Lindegårdsvej.

The path was created in collaboration between Faxe Municipality and the private landowners who have voluntarily made the areas available. The path is maintained by Faxe Municipality, while the meadows are cared for by the Faxe Cattle Grazing and Nature Care Association. By allowing cattle to graze in the meadow, one can combat cow parsnip and ensure the development of a diverse herbaceous vegetation.

In the meadows of the valley, the plant Tigger Ranunculus grows, among others. The name comes from the fact that beggars used the plant's bladder-drawing sap to cause sores and blisters on their skin, which could evoke people's generous sympathy.

The area is also characterized by many wet areas, as several springs originate right here. One of them is paved with stones and can be seen by the access road to the west. Not far from there lies the holy spring Sankt Hans Kilde - or Rosenkilden - which is known for its healing water.
