The Penbjergruten

The Penbjerg route starts from the parking lot 300 m southeast of Lodbjerg Lighthouse. From here, the route goes 1.5 km north through heath and dune landscapes, where you encounter a steep ascent up Penbjerg. From the top, the good view over the dune heath and the North Sea can be enjoyed in full. The route then goes east through the dune heath and meets the West Coast Path, which you follow south back to Lodbjerg Lighthouse.

The route requires good footwear and is 5.7 km long but offers fantastic views and remnants from the ancient Bronze Age mounds.

Toilet and Water

The route starts at Lodbjerg Lighthouse, where there is a toilet and the opportunity to tap water; these facilities are open all year round.

At Lodbjerg Lighthouse, from Easter to the end of October, you can daily visit the coffee house, where volunteer coffee house hosts welcome you and sell coffee/tea, juice, and homemade baked goods in the old rooms of the lighthouse keeper.
