Stage 17 Gudenåstien

This part of the route starts at a historical site where there has been an opportunity to cross the Gudenå River over time. The old railway bridge takes the path over the river at a place where many bridges have existed throughout history, and where there have been dramatic incidents. The path continues over “the blacksmith's meadow” to Langå Egeskov, where old gnarled trees remind of the extensive grazing practices in the forest of the past, and perhaps the Vikings docked here and traded.

At “Langå Marina” there is a public toilet and a nature exhibition in the picnic house about the formation of the Gudenå River, etc. From here, the path continues north through the town to Amtmand Hoppe's Bridge and further through marshy forest and green meadows to Gudenåsvinget near the railway. From here, the journey to Stevnstrup may be challenged by high water levels. Check it at oplevgudenaa.dk/oversvoemmelse.
