Experience Denmark's only open source chalk quarry at Tadre Mølle. You can follow the Source Chalk Route, which is a circular tour of 1.4 kilometers. The route is part of Tadre Mølle's Hiking Trail, which leads you out to the meadows of Tadre Mølle. Along the way, the area's springs, source chalk, and the life of the meadow are presented.
There are spring benches along the route where you can take a break and listen to the babbling of the water.
The route can be very wet and travel on the route is at your own risk.
What is source chalk?
Source chalk is a young stone formed by calcareous springs after the last ice age. Source chalk has been used for building churches before we started burning bricks. Source chalk somewhat resembles sea foam and is also called froth stone.
