The purpose of the protection is to preserve the area's character as a cohesive landscape, improve the living conditions for plant and animal life, and create a basis for nature management and nature restoration. Furthermore, one of the aims of the protection is to enhance public access.
The landscape is a meltwater valley characterized by the broad, flat valley floor, where gently sloping valley sides rise to the surrounding landscape with Værebro Å at the bottom of the valley corridor.
