Amarmino

The Amarminoen is approximately a 27 km long hiking route that connects DR Byen with Dragør and takes you through some of the most varied and nature-rich landscapes on Amager. Here you move from the edge of the city to open beach meadows, forests, and coast.

How to get to and from the route

The route starts at DR Byen (metro right at the door) and ends in Dragør, from where there are good bus connections back to the city. There are also good parking options at both the start (DR Byen/Ørestad) and the end (Dragør harbor and town center) if you are arriving by car. It is recommended to park in Dragør, where there is no parking fee.

Toilets

The Nature Center Amager is located close to the Amarminoen with toilets, the opportunity to buy food and drinks, and equipment rentals. A perfect rest stop.

Restrooms are available in several places along the route at Cafe Sylten Dragør Sydstrand, Kongelundsfortet at the southern tip of Amager, Sønder Pumpe at Dæmning, Byskoven along Kalvebod Løbet, and at Sluseholmen. All restrooms have running water, so you have the opportunity to fill your water bottle. See the map below for their locations.

Accommodation and free camping

Along the Amarminoen, there are opportunities for nature experiences and overnight stays. In selected areas, including Pinseskoven and parts of Kongelunden, there is access to free camping or primitive campsites. There are several shelters along the Amarminoen; find them at udinaturen.dk.

Experiences along the way

• Amager Fælled - Offers wild nature in the heart of the capital. From the many heights, there is a magnificent view over Copenhagen's many towers.
• Kalvebod Fælled - Large beach meadows with rich birdlife. Here you can experience waders, birds of prey, and during certain periods large flocks of geese.
• Pinseskoven - Denmark's largest self-seeded birch forest. Bright, open, and full of life, especially beautiful in the light green spring foliage.
• Kongelunden - Classic forest with twisted and old oak trees, birdsong, and forest atmosphere.
• Kongelundsfortet - The old military facility stands as a colossus with a good view of Øresund. There is a fantastic view from the large tower.
• Coast and beach towards Dragør - The journey ends along Øresund with open horizons and views of Sweden.

Practical info

• The entire route can be completed in one day (6 - 8 hours), but can also be divided into smaller stages.
• Bring food and water, as there are very few opportunities for shopping along the way.
• Be aware of the weather, especially wind can be felt on the open stretches.
