Panorama Route Mariagerfjord (11 km round trip)

The Panoramic Route Mariagerfjord between Hobro and Bramslev Bakker is certified as a Premium Hiking Trail, part of Denmark's Nature Trails, and is one of the Pearls of the Hærvej.

Marking: The route is marked with white triangles in both directions.

Experiences: The Panoramic Route is a circular tour of 11 km, which takes about three hours to hike. The route takes you along the edge of the fjord and up and down the hills. You have plenty of opportunities to enjoy the view over the fjord along the way on one of several benches set up.

The Panoramic Route Mariagerfjord is an internationally and nationally certified hiking route recognized as a Premium Hiking Route by the Deutsches Wanderinstitut since 2016 and subsequently as one of Denmark's Nature Trails - a nationwide network of well-marked and well-communicated hiking routes that guide to scenic experiences. Additionally, the route is also part of the Pearls of the Hærvej.

You can easily shorten the Panoramic Route by choosing: Hegedal Route (4.4 km) at the western end, Valsgård Stream Route (6 km) in the middle part or Bramslev Bakker Route (4 km) at the eastern end.

The animals on the Panoramic Route: The Panoramic Route goes through areas with sheep, cattle, and horses, which with their grazing are important for nature management. They are generally peaceful domestic animals, accustomed to people moving in the area. Nevertheless, it is important to be cautious around the animals and follow these recommendations:

Before you enter the enclosure:

• Orient yourself as best as you can about where the animals are and where the nearest exit is
• If you have children or others with you who are not used to being in enclosures with grazing animals, talk with them about how to behave before you enter
• Consider carefully choosing another way if you have a dog with you. We do NOT recommend taking a dog into enclosures with grazing animals. If you do enter anyway, please read our advice for dog owners below.

When you are in the enclosure

• Keep your distance and walk quietly in a wide arc around the herd – never through it
• Avoid coming between a cow and its calf or between a bull and its herd
• Do not pet or feed the animals
• If you choose to have a dog with you, it must be on a short leash. Keep the dog leash in your hand – it must never be attached to you in any other way. Release the leash if it’s clear that a cow is going to attack, so your dog can run to safety without putting you in danger.

Public transport

It is 1 km from the bus terminal to the start of the route and 2 km from the train station.

There are toilets and water stations along the route. The route primarily runs on nature trails.
