Lerchenborg

In 1742, General Christian Lerche purchased the estate Østrupgaard. The main building, agricultural buildings, and the park were laid out between 1743-53 according to the baroque requirements for symmetry and constitute an architectural unity that is unique in Denmark. In 1754, Lerche changed the estate's name to Lerchenborg. His successors sold off several of the associated large farms but were granted permission in 1818 to elevate the remainder to a countship. In 1927, Lerchenborg passed out of the family's ownership. After several more sales, the remnants were bought again in 1952 by a Lerche and have since remained in this family's possession. The castle and park are not open to individuals.

Birkemose

A field path leads over the fields along a living hedge and up to a small wooded bog with much wildlife. A lovely place in the embrace of nature.

Asnæs Forskov

In the deep, quiet of the forest, a large part of the 424 ancient monuments registered in Årby Parish can be found. In addition, pheasants and other wildlife enjoy the free life, and it is a wonderful feeling to stand at the edge of the forest with a view over Kalundborg Fjord.

Asnæs Vesterskov and Dyrehave

In addition to numerous ancient monuments, the trail system in the forests bears witness to past events, for example, the King’s Mail Road, a "hunting road" from King Christian X's participation in the hunt. The entire Asnæs tip is a protected remnant of Asnæs Dyrehave with grazed heath. In some of the ponds, calling frogs have been introduced. The berry growths on the slopes create a rich wildlife and birdlife.

Østrup

The smallholdings along the beach were subdivided from the estate Lerchenborg in 1925, 1953, and 1954 to provide the smallholding population with sufficient land for a livelihood.

Melby Sønderstrand

From here, there is a view over Jammerland Bay, and in good weather, Reersø can be seen on the horizon and the Great Belt Bridge to the south. At the end of the bathing piers, there is good bathing water with a fine sandy bottom. The slopes are held in place in many areas by vegetation with sea buckthorn. Cod mouths and beach asters are found here.

Ugerløse By

In the middle of the town, there is an idyllic setting around the old village pond. In front of the pond stands a memorial stone for the teacher and author Anton Nielsen (1827-1897), who wrote several books on Danish rural life.
