Hiking route at Faxe Limestone Quarry

The hike follows a route with 5 information stops that tell about the geology and formation of the Faxe limestone quarry and goes into the part of the quarry that the Nature Agency purchased from Faxe Kalk A/S for 1 kr. The tour is about 1 km long, but can easily be extended with a walk around the nearest of the lakes. If you want to avoid steep stairs, it is advisable to start the tour from the parking lot at the end of Stationsvej.

The walls of the quarry are high and steep, and it is life-threatening to climb on them. Do not go off the path that runs along the edge of the quarry and only use the marked descents to the quarry. You may move around anywhere in the quarry, but since it is still a workplace, you must keep a good distance from the moving machines, technical facilities, and the steep piles of limestone blocks. All waste must be taken up from the quarry, as, for example, metallic objects can cause significant problems in the processing of the limestone in the production facilities.
