Stage 13 Gudenåstien

The tour starts at Kongensbro and follows the Gudenåen River to the bridge over Tange Sø, Friholtvej. Along the way, you will pass by Høj Stene, a reconstructed royal grave from around the year 600, that is, the Iron Age. DR's Søren Rye has made a broadcast about the struggle to move such a large stone with today's machinery. Stop by and think about how difficult it was in the year 600! It is just a short detour of a few hundred meters.

The entire stretch was improved around 2025-26. If needed, there is an alternative route close to the river, where most part runs along forest paths in the plantation. On the stretch from Kongensbro to a little past Høj Stene, you walk either on a raised gravel path or a wooden bridge; it is quite accessible even with a wheelchair. However, there are no edges on the wooden bridges or many "turning spots".

For the sake of the local wildlife, a protection on this stretch does not allow cycling or having a dog with. Not even a dog on a leash. The protection applies almost all the way to Langå, but one may walk with a dog in a few places near Ulstrup and Bjerringbro.
