Sakskøbing Fjord trip, 4 - 18 km

Parking / starting point:
Sakskøbing Rowing Club, Havnegade 6, 4990 Sakskøbing. Alternative starting point: Oreby Bridge.

Special conditions:
The fairway is dredged and about 4 m deep. The older buoys are preserved – so avoid collisions. Outside the fairway, the water is shallow, but it is possible to veer off when passing boats in the fairway. After about 4 km, the water is very shallow on the left side in front of Oreby Bridge.

Protection and consideration:
Be considerate of the rich birdlife and the many nesting sites for birds.

In the inner harbor, there are several houseboats. From the inner harbor to Maltrup Vænge Marina, the fjord has the character of a stream. After Maltrup Vænge, the fjord spreads out towards Maltrup Forest on the left, which contains a protected smaller natural area with light-open forest of beech and oak. Along the eastern shore of the fjord, you can see gardens and houses along Orebyvej between Sakskøbing and Oreby Castle. The old manor is mentioned in the 1300s.
