Bastion of the Count Independence Park

The Baluarte del Conde or Baluarte el Conde (formerly called Baluarte de San Genaro) is a bastion of colonial times, and brings together some of the monuments and most emblematic places of Santo Domingo: It is made up of the Independence Park, Puerta de la Misericordia, Fuerte de la Concepción and Altar de la Patria.
Independencia Park is a historical park in the Dominican Republic. It owes its name to being the stage where Dominican independence developed. The park is the main platform that houses the monuments related to independence and Dominican heroes. It was redesigned in 1912 by architect Antonin Nechodoma;
The Puerta de la Misericordia, was the first gate of the city of Santo Domingo. Sober and Renaissance style, the design and construction are the work of Arch. Rodrigo de Liendo, from the year 1543.
