It was the home of Rodrigo de Bastidas, who was the founder of several cities in South America. The 3,000-square-meter building is built around a rectangular central courtyard. The house has long corridors linking the courtyard by a multitude of Roman arches.
For more than a century, the house was inhabited by the descendants of Rodrigo Bastidas, and then was used by various government institutions, so it now houses the Museum of the Dominican Child.
