DESCRIPTION
This whole complex belongs to the sixteenth century and highlights the baroque style, dedicated to the life and miracles of St. Augustine. Through this set of buildings you can appreciate the work of Miguel de Santiago, a great representative of the artistic manifestation called Escuela Quiteña.
PECULIARITIES
- In this enclosure there is also a space of great patrimonial value and importance of the history of the Ecuadorians, the Chapter House, place where the Act of Independence of the
Spanish crown in 1809.
- For its construction, stones from the Pichincha volcano were used.
- In its inner courtyard you can see one of the heritage trees of the city, the Magnolia (Magnolia grandiflora) of 15 meters high, well known for its intense green color and large white flowers.
