The Güell Palace was built between 1885 and 1890. Eusebio Güell was the client. This is the first major secular commission of Antoni Gaudí. The fusion of structure and decoration, a characteristic of Gaudí’s later works, is already visible in this building. The influence of Moorish architecture is greater here than in his later works. This is expressed in abstract meticulous decorations. Also, the screen-like elements that have been constructed for the windows in some rooms have an Eastern feel.
