La Plaza de San Ildefonso es un espacio público del antiguo Barrio de Maravillas, en la llamada zona Malasaña de la capital de España. Confluyen en ella las dos correderas la Baja al sur, y la Alta, al norte, y las cinco calles de Don Felipe, San Joaquín, Santa Bárbara, Colón y el Barco.[1]
Preside la plazuela la Iglesia de San Ildefonso. En este castizo entorno, que retrató Galdós en su novela Fortunata y Jacinta,[2] se instaló el mercado de San Ildefonso -uno de los primeros mercados cubiertos de Madrid- entre 1835 y 1970.
