Puigpelat

Puigpelat is a Spanish municipality in the comarca of Alto Campo, in the province of Tarragona, located to the south of the comarca. It is situated on a small elevation in the middle of the central plain that is bounded by the Francolí and Gayá rivers.
The most important economic activity has been agriculture for centuries. The agricultural lands have been dedicated to monocultures, mainly vineyards, olive trees, almond trees, and hazelnuts. Currently, agricultural activity is in recession. The aging population engaged in agricultural tasks and the lack of dedication to them by young people have resulted in the abandonment of farmland and a shift towards an emerging industrialization of the area, which negatively impacts the preservation of the traditional landscape.
