Dueñas

Dueñas is a municipality and locality in Spain's province of Palencia, in the autonomous community of Castile and León. It has held the title of Historic-Artistic Ensemble since July 6, 1967, and the title of City along with the treatment of Excelentísimo for its town hall since August 3, 1928. These recognitions were granted by the monarch Alfonso XIII, citing as a reason "the growing development of its agriculture, industry, and commerce, and for its constant adherence to the Monarchy." The historical events that took place in this town and the quantity and quality of its artistic expressions, not to mention its typically Castilian popular constructions and the underground structures of caves and wineries, made it deserving of those designations.
