Dueñas es un municipio y localidad española de la provincia de Palencia, en la comunidad autónoma de Castilla y León.Ostenta el título de Conjunto Histórico-Artístico desde el 6 de julio de 1967[1] y el título de Ciudad y el tratamiento de Excelentísimo a su ayuntamiento desde el 3 de agosto de 1928. Estos reconocimientos fueron otorgados por el monarca Alfonso XIII, alegando como motivo "el creciente desarrollo de su agricultura, industria y comercio, y por su constante adhesión a la Monarquía"[2]. Los acontecimientos históricos desarrollados en esta villa y la cantidad y calidad de sus manifestaciones artísticas, sin olvidar sus construcciones populares típicamente castellanas y las construcciones subterráneas de cuevas y bodegas, la hicieron merecedora de esas denominaciones.
