Busot Waters

Aguas de Busot[3][4][5] is a municipality located in the province of Alicante, Valencian Community. It is located in the Campo de Alicante region. It has 986 inhabitants.

Since its municipal independence and until 1916 the only official name of the town was that of Aguas,[6] name that comes from the aquifers that gave rise to the Aguas. However, since then the suffix "de Busot" was added to the official name to distinguish it from another homonymous locality, currently absorbed by the Huesca municipality of Loporzano. Busot, is, in fact, a nearby town with a larger population. However, as the town had never had an administrative affiliation with Busot, some considered the suffix etymologically incorrect. As a result of this, in 1986 the municipal corporation of the moment eliminated the suffix "de Busot" from the official name, also passing it to Valencian. Thus, currently coexist the forms already converted into traditional Aguas de Busot and Aigües de Busot with those of Aguas and the currently official of Aigües.
