The Parador de Cardona is a four-star Parador - Museum located in the town of Cardona, Province of Barcelona, owned by Paradores de España.
It is a parador inaugurated in 1976 within the grounds of the Cardona Castle, the building was constructed in 886 by Wifredo the Hairy. In Romanesque and Gothic style, it includes the so-called Golden Hall and the Hall of the Entresols. During the 15th century, the Dukes of Cardona were the most important family of the Crown of Aragon, second only to the Royal House. For this reason, they were referred to as kings without a crown, as they had extensive territorial domains in Catalonia, Aragon, and Valencia, and dynastic ties with the royal houses of Castile, Portugal, Sicily, and Naples. In 1714, after a siege that largely destroyed the castle walls, it was one of the last strongholds to surrender to the Bourbon troops of Philip V after the Castilian conquest during the War of Spanish Succession. Its jewel is the Minyona tower, 15 meters high and more than 10 meters in diameter, and the Romanesque church of San Vicente de Cardona.
