The aquarium, opened in 1995, has thirty-five tanks with six million liters of seawater, eleven thousand fish including about ten sharks, crustaceans, and mollusks. The aquarium claims to be the largest in Europe. Each tank simulates a different marine area. The population consumes two tons of food per week. A computer controls the lighting to mimic nature as closely as possible.
Visitors can find various species, including: the scorpion fish, European sea bass, sea bream and moray eel, the white tip reef shark and the black tip reef shark, the burning horn snail, the triggerfish, the red mullet, the sunfish, the cardinalfish, the butterfly fish, the emperor fish, the guitarfish, and the rabbitfish. Definitely worth a visit, especially if you love (underwater) animals!!
