The Gothic cathedral of Barcelona, Catedral de Santa Eulàlia, located at Plaza de la Seu, is the main church of the Archdiocese of Barcelona. The cathedral was built on top of an old Romanesque church. Construction began in 1298 and was only completed in 1913. On the side of the church lies the monastery with a beautiful garden. In the garden live thirteen geese that protect the saint Santa Eulàlia. There must always be thirteen: when one dies, it must be replaced immediately.
