The monastery of San Millán de Yuso is located in the town of San Millán de la Cogolla, in the province of La Rioja, on the left bank of the Cárdenas river. It is part of the monumental complex of two monasteries, along with the older one: the monastery of San Millán de Suso. It preserves the relics of the hermit saint Emilian of la Cogolla, after whom it is named. In 1997, the monasteries of San Millán were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
