The Mequinenza castle is an intact palace-castle on top of a hill overlooking the confluence of the Ebro, Segre, and Cinca rivers, located in the town of the same name in Aragón. It was built by the Moncada, lords of the barony of Mequinenza. It dates back to the 14th and 15th centuries, although it was considerably remodeled in 1959 by architect Adolf Florensa. It marks the border point between Aragón and Catalonia, and between the provinces of Zaragoza and Lleida.
