Avinguda del Rei Jaume III is located in Palma, on the island of Mallorca and is the result of an expansion and interior reform plan for Palma, the Alomar Plan, carried out by architect and urban planner Gabriel Alomar i Esteve, approved in 1943. This plan proposed twelve reforms in the historic center, of which only four were implemented: the openings of Avinguda de Jaume III and Avinguda de la Constitució, as well as the reforms of Plaça Major and Plaça de l'Olivar. It is the result of the proposal to create a wide link between the old city and the western expansion. Its layout is straight and uniform, with porticoed arches and historicist-style façades.
