The Palace of Aiete is a palace in the Aiete district of the Spanish city of San Sebastian in the autonomous community of Basque Country. The palace and gardens have been declared monumental heritage by the Basque government.
The palace was built in 1878 on the orders of the Duke of Bailén, based on a neoclassical design by the French architect Adolfo Ombrecht. The gardens cover an area of 74,000 m2 and were designed by landscape architect Pierre Ducasse. Until the construction of the Miramar Palace in 1893, the Palace of Aiete was the summer residence of Queen Isabella II, King Alfonso XII, his wife Queen Maria Cristina, and their son King Alfonso XIII. Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom and Eugénie de Montijo, wife of Napoleon III and Empress of France, also spent a night in the palace.
