The Northern Way of Saint James or Saint James' Coastal Path, in Spanish Camino del Norte, is a secondary route of the Jacobean pilgrimage that runs along the entire Cantabrian coast to Santiago de Compostela. It is one of the most historic paths along with the primitive way. It used to be the most traveled route by kings from all over Europe to reach Santiago. It is the continuation in the peninsular territory of the Way of Solac, the French coastal route, which runs through the westernmost lands of France, entering the peninsular territory crossing the border between Hendaya and Irun. It is the most used by pilgrims of the northern Jacobite routes who, arriving from the ports of Northern Europe, disembark at any of the Cantabrian ports. Its course along the Cantabrian coast coincides with the European Route E09.
