The beach of Cuevas del Mar, in the municipality of Llanes, is a beach that is considered a protected landscape from an environmental point of view. For this reason, it is part of the Protected Landscape of the Eastern Coast of Asturias. It is located at the mouth of the Nueva River and features curious and original cavities carved by the effect of the waves on the rock walls that form the cliffs where it is situated. This cavernous landscape is undoubtedly the origin of its name.
