Benidorm is a station of the TRAM Metropolitano of Alicante that connects lines 1 and 9. It is located at the foot of Estación de Benidorm street.
At this station transfers are made between lines 1 and 9 of the Tram Alicante. It has three platforms, five tracks, six detours, the station building and a roof over the track stops. [1] On June 2, 2008, the TRAM line 1 service to this station was inaugurated, which meant that the transfers of line 9, which until then were made in Creueta, were made in Benidorm. The extension allowed to increase the frequencies of passage of the lines, connecting Mercado and Benidorm every thirty minutes. [2] It has six diesel trains operating between Benidorm and Denia that supply line 9, as well as several train-TRAM trains between Alicante and Benidorm that supply line 1. [3]
The entire station building has undergone a refurbishment between May and October 2017. The exterior and interior appearance of the building has been improved, as well as accessibility and lighting.
