Municipal Museum of Jérica

The Municipal Museum of Jérica,[1] was founded in 1946 and was located on the ground floor of the Town Hall building[2] of this town in the Alto Palancia region, in the province of Castellón, Spain; until 2014 when the new facilities were inaugurated. [3] Located at 2 Cuesta Zalón Street, next to the Church of Santa Águeda and in what is known as Casa de Bru, today the visitor can enjoy a much more suitable place for the exhibition of a sample of the valuable local heritage.

The origin of this museum is found, on the one hand, in the existence of a considerable heritage, both movable and immovable, in the town of Jérica, and on the other hand, in the desire of a small number of people to collect, unite, catalogue and exhibit, the whole set of archaeological and ethnological objects that were found in the interventions that were being carried out in the municipality. Thus, in 1946, Salvador Llopis, PhD in Historical Sciences, handed over to the City Council of Jérica the collection of all the objects that he had been collecting since after the war of 1936 until that moment, so that they could serve as a background for the Municipal Museum of Jérica, which would soon be inaugurated.
