The Dolmen del Guadancil I is a megalithic structure made of slate. It is located in the 104 km² Alcántara Reservoir in Garrovillas de Alconetar, near Caceres in the Autonomous Region of Extremadura, Spain, and is only visible during times of severe drought. The flooding has affected its state of preservation.
In 1874, Pastor Don Jerónimo Sande excavated the Dolmen del Guadancil I and II, which are about 50.0 m apart. The graves correspond to the neighboring structures from the Neolithic period. He found knives, arrowheads, and spearheads made of flint, polished axes made of amphibolite, clay pots, stone beads, and relief-decorated slate idol plates. He presented the objects at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1878. Guadancil I preserved the encasing of the base of the mound, which has a diameter of about 18.0 meters, and part of the structure. The dolmen consists of a round chamber with a diameter of about 3.0 m and a passageway of 5.15 meters in length. Seven orthostats over one meter in height are in situ. Its east-facing entrance, whose posts and lintel are preserved, has a width of 1.24 meters. The remarkably long gallery has a width of 1.6 m.
