The ancient medieval castle survives in the toponym - Castle Street -: the few material remains that exist are located at the top of a tormo situated to the north of the town, which gives the town its name.
Of Muslim origin, it was part of a defensive line that connected Albarracín with Alpuente, via Jabaloyas, El Cuervo, Castielfabib, Ademuz, and Santa Cruz de Moya.
