The Masos de l'Albiol is a group of farmhouses in the term of l'Albiol. The philologist Enric Moreu Rey identified in 1976 more than 150 farmhouses in the historical area, but a few less in the modern area.
At the end of the 19th century, the lack of water and problems with bandits led to the depopulation of Mas de Peiró, and many others followed. Mas de Barberà is documented in 1477 and now forms part of the Catalan Farmhouses; Mas del Frare or del Miqueló is mentioned in 1768; Mas de Mallafrè in 1495; Mas de Llaberia in 1621; and Mas del Ferrer or del Sord in 1335, while Mas Nou appears in 1788. Mas d'Urrútia or Villa Urrutia is a modernist building from the 19th century, also included in the Catalan Farmhouses. Mas d'en Julià or Quadra del Senyor already existed in the 12th century and survived until the 16th century, associated with the Selva family of Julià de Vallcorva and later with the Montoliu.
