Can Gussinyé

Can Gussinyé is a Noucentista building in Banyoles that is part of the Inventory of the Architectural Heritage of Catalonia.

Among the Noucentista buildings of Banyoles, Can Gussinyé stands out with its own light. It is a single-family home with a ground floor and an upper floor - with a gabled roof. Despite its affiliation with the early 20th-century movement, a marked Italianate taste can be observed. This is evident in the oculi of the first floor and, above all, in the arcade that has been used as a solution for the entrance. The classicism of these elements is also present at the corner. The treatment of the balconies, made of wood and with a Central European air, is different. An octagonal tower, of considerable size, emerges from the center of the house, constituting a privileged loft. We highlight the very pronounced eaves, especially in the area of the balcony that faces east. A certain populist and domestic aspect of the ensemble compensates for its monumentality.
